Julia has severe glaucoma that now limits her artistic endeavours.
Julia is related to famous Australian artist Tom Roberts. She is a signature member of Pastel Society of Victoria, Australia, Ringwood Art Society, Sherbrooke Artists Society. past member of Australian Guild of Realist Artists, past Vice President of Doncaster Templestowe Art Society. Her work is in private collections in Australia, Japan, USA, Mexico and Scotland. Julia has many years experience, has exhibited widely and acheived many awards for her works in various mediums. She has experience as a teacher and mentor, has held solo and curated group exhibitions.
Julia showed early promise winning awards for drawings and water colour paintings while in primary school. She trained with the Victoria Police Department and worked in drafting and mapping. She also worked on drawing the design of the Victoria Police badge emblem. She studied dress design and dressmaking and operated her own order work business.
Throughout her life she took every opportunity to develop her early talent. With a passion to paint she attended Summer Schools with Colin Johnson and Charles McCubbin, classes and workshops with well known Australian artists such as Walter Magilton, Ed Berry, Barbara McManus, Carol Boothman and Malcolm Beattie, all of whom inspired her use of various techniques and mediums.
Recent mediums in favour are pastel, acrylic and water colour. She produces works across a wide range of subjects inspired from nature and the experiences of her travels to Europe, USA, Mexico and outback Australia.
