Features

ARTIST NOTES: Land and the ocean are the sources of almost everything our ancestors across the Pacific relies on. For the Pacific islanders, the land they live on (their islands) are scattered across the Pacific ocean but it is the ocean which connects them together. The land and the sea provide everything to us. The ancestors sailed the ocean under the sun and moon trading and navigating. This painting aims to present the connection between people, the islands, the ocean and the living things beneath, above and on it. The use of pure design signifies the intricacies of our cultures, bonded by vast of their similarities seen across indigenous pacific island nations.
