ARTIST NOTES: In memory of the Highway Gallery at Mount Waverley which was much loved by lot of people including the Friends group that volunteered to organise several exhibitions from the past 40 years. I thought that I must paint this in remembrance of all the happy memories that are associated with many people connected to The Highway gallery which was recently shut down.
Given my architecture background I love sketching buildings and urbanscapes. I am part of the Melbourne Urban sketchers group as well and this painting serves as an inspiration to my students, whom I have taken out on outdoor sketching events nearby. I have organised the first exhibition of my students works in the Highway Gallery this year & so it has a very special place in my heart too. This painting is of much historic & sentimental value.
