Chief Judge - Richard Impey

Richard is a digital and multidisciplinary artist with an interest in photopolymer etching. As an extension to his practice, he also judges art shows, runs demonstrations and workshops.

He studied Art and Design at Caulfield Institute of Technology. Later he continued his studies at Toorak Teacher’s College. He has completed a Master’s in Educational Studies with a focus on Art and ICT at Monash University.

For several years, Richard was a curriculum consultant for the Southern Region running workshops and courses for teachers, bursars, and principals. He returned to classroom teaching to become head of Art and ICT at Caulfield Junior College. His school was selected as one of the twelve in the state as a leading school for the use and implementation of ICT across the curriculum. The school was a State Government show piece and was often visited by educators from around Australia as well as international visitors. During his time at Caulfield Junior College Richard was a winner of the Herald Sun and Monash University Teacher of the Year, for the best use of New Technology (Primary).

Richard was employed at Brighton Secondary College as the head of the ICT faculty with mandate to drive whole school change, including the Art faculty, in the use of ICT.

Richard is currently the President, of the Victorian Artists Society. He is also a member of the Brighton Art Society, the Firestation Print Studio, the Contemporary Art Society,WSV and MAVA.
